It's possible that I caught finishitis from Kay but since I've never had any kind of personal contact with her that seems like a bit of a stretch. I think the culprit is my Sockapalooza4 socks. There was a clear deadline for the socks and there was no chance I was going to be late so with 3 weeks to go I promised myself and anyone else that would listen that I would start no new projects until the socks were done. You would think given that restriction I would have quickly finished the socks so I could cast one of the 21 things in my Ravelry queue. That was the plan but as usual it didn't work out that way.
First was the need to finish my Cropped Caridgan so I could help my sister-in-law Ann if she had any questions and being so close to done I could feel the beginnings of that wonderful completion euphoria. So finish it I did, right down to the blocking and picture taking. Feeling good, next up socks. I stuck with the Monkeys until the first one was finished. After that it just didn't seem right to start the second sock minutes later, I needed time to appreciate my empty needles and enjoy a small dose of contentment. Now this is where it becomes clear I have some type of affliction. Nothing new was cast on instead I unearthed my throw and went to work. Said throw was started in June of 2006 (no that's not a typo) but is so boring I can't stick with it very long. It's 240 stitches across, garter, and I have to change colors every row. Zzzzzzzz. So after more than a year I had only 8 inches of blanket now I have 19.
Clearly I have a condition. And if that's not enough to convince you my second Knit Picks Headband,
a few inches of progress on the Picivoli,
crocheted 2 more snowflakes and 4 book thongs (started after the socks).
Unbelievable! My other symptoms include frogging a couple of old projects that I finally admitted will never be finished and setting a deadline for the rest of the on hold drawer. Everything in there must be completed or ripped by Nov. 1 2007. As you saw yesterday I even finished my Monkey socks on time.
Do you think finishitis is a lingering aliment? Just in case I better get back to the knitting.
