As I was working on my sock yesterday I was imagining it in it's new home. Will my sock pal like the colors? I hope it fits well. This pattern is so cool, I hope she agrees. You get the idea. Then came the big question. What will she wear them with? What will I wear my socks with?
This was a bit of a stumper for me. I have never had my own pair of handknit socks and have only made socks for my 4 year old daughter who has her own style (she likes socks that don't match on the outside of her pants the more colors the better). What do you wear yours with?
I've seen pictures of socks with dresses. Really?
Knee-hi's with shorts? Socks with heels? Lots of pictures of socks without shoes or any other visible clothing. Probably not so good for the life expectancy of the sock and everything but your feet will be cold. I don't wear dresses, shorts, or heels on a regular basis and I'm certainly not going anywhere naked.
Jeans maybe? There were a few pictures of socks sporting rolled up jeans but still no shoes. Do you have to roll up your jeans? If not how does anyone ever see your super cool socks? Can I get away with wearing them with my sweatpants du jour?
I could wear them with my Birks.
I do live in the NW and own many pair of birks but still not really my style (at least not out of the house). Maybe I just need some new shoes. I'm sure that's the answer. New shoes are a good solution to almost any delemia.
These look good to me. I can get myself a mother's day gift can't I ?

Hmmm...not sure that I'm on the clear shoes bandwagon. My favorite shoes that show off my socks are my Skechers--mesh sides, open top, strap zig-zags across the top. Otherwise, I go for normal lace-up shoes--tennies or nicer casual shoes. I'm definitely not the type to wear socks with sandals.

I wear my socks with regular tennis shoes and with birks. It's ok if no one else see em, they still are super comfy & make me feel good! :)

I wear mine with clogs/mules/Birks, and sometimes, I even wear 'em with *blush* Crocs. People who see me regularly are always sneaking glances at my feet to see what socks I have on because I'm always working on a sock in public!

I've looked for clear clogs for years now, these shoes are great!
I wear my handknit socks just like any others, but I do tend to be on the floor with kids all day with my shoes off so they do get noticed. People notice them peeking out under your pants, and even if they don't... you know they are there!

I am totally and passionately opposed to socks with sandals! In the summertime, therefore, my socks only go to the gym. In the winter, they are buried under boot-leg jeans, in big chunky leather clogs. And while I can see the uses of the clear sneakers, my feet started sweating just looking at them. For footwear, I am natural all the way - leather or canvas for shoes, wool or cotton for socks.

I've been looking at pairs of clogs. My socks don't get a lot of wear time, because I just don't have a good pair of shoes to wear them in. So, I've been looking for a pair of clogs with a bit of a cut out, so the color peeks out the front and you can see more sock from the back.

I wear my socks with Mary Janes most of the time, which mean my feet are warm, can breathe and the socks can be seen! I searched for an appopriate pair for months and finally found some. I have also been known to wear orange Crocs, but only when I am feeling brave. I have seen Mary Jane Crocs, so perhaps I could have the bst of both worlds!

I also have a pair of those sketchers with the zig zag fastening on the top, they do show off the socks nicely, but for everyday work purposes I wear them with Dansko clogs. They are the only shoes I wear to work that socks fit in, it makes me kind of sad sometimes b/c I wish I could wear them more, but I work in a 'heels' environment & besides that, I'm so short, if I started wearing flat lace ups for greater sock usage half my pants would drag on the floor!!
